I’m Jerry Simmons, a lifelong Rockford resident with deep roots in our community. Growing up in Rockford Public Schools, I learned the importance of a strong educational foundation—a belief that now fuels my campaign for the Rock Valley College Board of Trustees.
I am running to advocate for quality education, well-paying jobs, and campus investments that will strengthen our entire community.
My priorities are clear. Investing in Vocational Education
is at the top of the list. I will champion vocational training programs and foster partnerships with local businesses to equip students with the skills they need for high-demand, well-paying jobs.
Building Community Partnerships is another cornerstone of my platform, where I aim to collaborate with educators, parents, and local organizations to create a supportive network that opens doors for every student.
Additionally, I’m committed to Cutting Wasteful Spending
to ensure our budget maximizes educational outcomes, evaluating where improvements can make the greatest impact for Rockford’s families.
Public safety is also a key focus of my campaign. As trustee, I will work to enhance safety on and off campus by collaborating with local law enforcement, supporting neighborhood watch programs, and advocating for resources that address pressing safety concerns. By investing in education, strong partnerships, responsible budgeting, and public safety, I believe we can build a brighter future for Rockford—one where students, families, and businesses can thrive together.
Let’s work together to make Rock Valley College a powerful force for opportunity, growth, and community strength.
